Candy Crate is Green“When you're a small operation, it's easy to think that what you do doesn't really matter, but when you multiply the things you do by thousands of other small operations, it's a big impact."
Here are just some of the steps we take to help make a difference:
Since compact fluorescent light bulbs use less power to supply the same amount of light as an incandescent lamp, we have installed compact fluorescent light bulbs in all our lighting fixtures to help reduce the carbon dioxide emissions and the environmental effects of electric power generation.
The average PC wastes about half the energy provided to it, so we make sure all employees put their computer into “sleep mode” or “standby” when they haven't been accessed for more than 10 minutes or turn them completely off when they are finished working for the day.
Paper consumes a great deal of energy, water, and chemical resources in its processing. When buying our copy paper, we look for recycled paper with a high percentage of post-consumer content and the minimum of chlorine bleaching. Also, all our paper that is used goes through the Paper Recycling Shredding Specialists, Inc. for a Certification of Destruction and Recycling.
Companies generate a lot of waste each week, in the form of cardboard, plastic, and more. We reuse as many boxes as we can to help decrease waste and determine how much cardboard is generated and can be recycled. We also take the opportunity to donate boxes.
Mailing our empty inkjet cartridges to HP's state-of-the art recycling operations protects the environment since the plastic in each cartridge never decomposes. The cartridges are processed into recycled raw materials for use in new consumer products.
