Teaberry was introduced in the early 1900’s by the D.L. Clark Company, later named Clark Gum Company. Its popularity peaked in the 1960s, when it was additionally popularized with when Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass performed the song "Teaberry Shuffle". The name “Teaberry” refers to the Eastern Teaberry shrub, native to the northeastern US, which flavors the gum with its vaguely wintergreen taste.
