The idea of sweets on a stick is very simple but the official history of the lollipop is unclear. Some speculate that lollipops were invented during the American Civil War while others believe some version of the lollipop has been around much longer. Mr. George Smith believes he is the first to invent the modern style lollipop in 1908 and trademarked the lollipop name in 1931. Lollipops and candy suckers in every color of the rainbow!
